Ottawa announce their bid for an MLS franchise
Yesterday Eugene Melnyk and Ottawa Senator Sports & Entertainment Corporation announced their bid for a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise for Ottawa. Mr. Melnyk also announced the plans to build a soccer sports park adjacent to Scotia Bank Place. The sports park will include a soccer specific stadium that will hold at least 20,000 people and 5 additional fields, 3 of which are expected to be turf fields including lights.
A bid web site has been set up with the details of the bid and the plans for the stadium,

The web site includes a section where people can register to support the Ottawa bid. There is no financial commitment required for this support.
NCISL Secretary Jonathon Showell recently attended a meeting where the bid was presented to representatives of local soccer clubs "There is no doubt that this is a very exciting opportunity for the Ottawa soccer community" said Jonathon. "The NCISL Board of Directors support the bid to bring a MLS franchise to Ottawa and we encourage our members to also support the initiative."
