Ottawa Women United Heading to New Zealand
The NCISL’s, Ottawa Women’s United Soccer Club (OWUSC) are an extraordinary league of local women between the ages of 35-55 with stories to tell. They are mothers, sisters, teachers, public servants, paramedics, high-tech workers, businesswomen, nurses and more who came together to play, connect and compete at a level that they never thought they could.
On April 16, 2017 the team consisting of 17 players, a Coach and a Manager and their entourage of supporters depart for Auckland, New Zealand to compete in the World Master Games in 2017 — A global event that sees over 25,000 athletes from around the globe come together to promote the Olympic Games ethos of “sport for all”. The team have been preparing for this journey to New Zealand for the last three years. They are members of our Women’s Div 2.
They have organized several fundraising activities to offset the cost of this trip of a lifetime. They are always in the hunt for sponsors…Hint! Hint!
The Ottawa Women’s United Soccer Club (OWUSC) has not only been inspired by their journey to the Olympic podium but by the “Let’s go for it!” spirit of the Jamaican bobsled team (who rose to fame in 1988 at the Winter Olympics).
Let’s wish them the best of luck.
