The NCISL celebrates 10 years of women's soccer

The 2008 outdoor season kicks off in May with the NCISL celebrating its 10th season for its women's program.
 
Only 4 teams entered the inaugural women's division in1999 however the women's program has steadily evolved to now consist of two divisions in both the indoor and outdoor seasons as well as a knockout cup competition and a division in the NCISL annual tournament. Twelve teams will participate in the 2008 outdoor season with three of the original 4 teams, Alcatel Banshees, Nortel Storm and Mitel Platinum continuing to play in the NCISL.
 
The NCISL will kick off its celebrations with a cheese and wine reception for all the 2008 outdoor coaches and referees at the St Anthony's Banquet Hall in Ottawa on Thursday 24th April at 6:00pm. The coaches and referee pre season meeting will then take place immediately following the reception at 7:15pm.
 
As part of the celebrations all 2008 NCISL women team players will be receiving a T shirt with the 10th year anniversary logo.
 
"I would like to congratulate all our female members on reaching this tremendous milestone" said NCISL President Tim Baigent "In particular I would like to recognize the contribution from our Director of Operations Dawn Dinsdale, who has been the driving force behind the NCISL women's program since its conception in 1999. Without Dawn's determination it is doubtful that the women's program would be as successful as it is"
